For our client in Amsterdam we are looking for an Enterprise Data Lake Quality Assurance Engineer / Test Specialist

Global Data Management is a core component of Think Forward strategy and a Chief Data management office (CDMO) has been established in the COO domain to ensure that the company has trustable data which is fully fit for the purpose (timely, complete, accurate, adoptable, comprehensive, consistent, and appropriate), enabled by a state-of-the-art data architecture and IT infrastructure.


Within the CDMO a Data Product Management department has been created to manage the planning and delivery of data management capabilities to the organisation. In this respect, Data Product Management is responsible for all aspects of the data product lifecycle including demand management, requirements gathering, business case derivation, product scoping and feasibility, roadmap and delivery management, as well as where appropriate, product evangelising.
Within the Data Management department, a Data Portfolio Management function has been established with responsibility for aligning roadmaps and delivery schedules across the data product domains as well as coordinating adoption across Countries and Business Units, associated dependency, risk and impediment management. Additionally, a Product Management function has been established with responsibility for product scoping and feasibility, roadmap and delivery management, as well as where appropriate, product evangelising.

The Product Management department, in collaboration with the Data Portfolio function, Demand Management, Countries and Business Units is undertaking an "End-to-End Data Ingestion and Exchange" workstream in order to deliver Capability for "Data Ingestion and Exchange" via Data lakes - [enabled by Enterprise Data Lake (EDL)]. The Enterprise Data lake serves as the single interface for extracting Finance, Risk, HR, Customer Intelligence (and other) data in one single language and required target format instead of multiple interfaces with each Country/Domain to receive the same data in multiple formats and languages. This capability is crucial to deliver our highest priority strategic objectives of 2018-2021 which is to consolidate all necessary data in the data Lakes.
The company is looking to recruit a Quality Assurance Engineer for Enterprise Data Lake (supporting the "E2E Data Ingestion and Exchange" via all Data lakes) within the Global Data Management initiative.

The Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for creating a Master Test Management Plan for the E2E Data Ingestion and Exchange via the Enterprise Data Lake. The scope of this Data Exchange is from sources (Data lakes from Countries/domains) to various Target Systems (for business functions like Finance, Risk, HR, CI, etc). This Test Plan will include building Test Plans, Test Scenarios, Test Cases against the Functional (Business) requirements and the Technical requirements per Business Initiaitve (equivalent to an Implementation Plan per Customer).

The QA Engineer must have in depth understanding of Stages of Data Processing, Data Models in use, Data Extraction/Transformation/Loading patterns used, Software development Life Cycle, Defect Management and Incident Management processes aligned with Implementation Plans of each Business Initiative.
The QA Engineer for Enterprise Data lake will closely work with the Business Analysts (who are responsible for gathering Business/Technical Requirements for various Business Initiatives) and Test Managers/Testers from Business Lines (Like Finance, Risk, HR, Customer Intelligence, etc).
As QA Engineer you fulfil in a professional team of Development and Operations Engineers ("BuzDevOps" squads) an important, strategic and substantial role in performing Quality Assurance and Validating the functionality as per the Business Requirements. You will also be expected to communicate and consult with customers directly and will be responsible for compiling and presenting final reports. Together with your colleagues in the team, create Generic and Specific Test Plans for testing and validating data exchange from all sources (through Development, Test, Acceptance/UAT and Production/Go-Live Phases). You will develop an execution plan to test the Data Extraction, Loading and Transformation from one data model to another by adhering to data aggregation/transformation rules provided by the Business and the Customers. You will also perform thorough reporting on Defect/Issues Management to ensure data accuracy and quality as per the Data Quality Rules. You will provide high quality plans and advise Customers on best possible test scenarios for User Acceptance Tests and provide advice for go/no-go decision making for go-lives. You will work according to the latest methods within complex Business/IT projects.

In your role you will report to the Chief Product Owner of Enterprise Data lake (also the Workstream Lead for E2E Data Ingestion and Exchange) within the Data Product Management Department.

Accountabilities
As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will build Master Test Plan and Specific Test Plans for implementation/execution of Business Initiatives to deliver the Business requirements which include Data Quality and Data Transformations from Source to Target Data Models. You will work closely with the DEV/OPS Engineers in testing and maintenance of ETL solutions for Enterprise Date Lake using the Agile/Scrum methodology.
• Derive Test Scenarios, Test Cases and Acceptance Criteria for all stages of Testing (Unit Testing, System Integration Testing, Functional Acceptance Testing, User Acceptance Testing, Operational Acceptance Testing and other types of Test stages when applicable.
• Design and derive Test Plan for data processing, retention, archiving requirements based on Business Requirements and SLA's from Business which includes Daily data feeds/loads in a "Business as Usual" State.
• Explanation of the Test Plans to the Dev/Ops teams within the Squads of Enterprise Data Lake.
• Align on the Test Plans for E2E Data Ingestion/Exchange across local/country data lakes and the end Consumers together with Product Owner(s), Business Lines and Countries/Domain Data Lakes to exchange priority data for each Business Initiative (Follow the Epics and Features of Demand Management Backlog).
• Conduct Impact Analysis on current Test Plans with all relevant stakeholders and teams in the event of changes in requirements any new requirements introduced on the current/planned releases or upcoming releases.
• Contribute to the preparation and specification of Testing related User Stories together with the Product Owners and involved squads or teams.
• Identify dependencies, risks and issues across the countries/domains/data Consumers during the execution of Business Initiatives as well as keeping track of the execution across the countries/domains/data Consumers.
• Build Test Automation Plans to automate repeatable test scenarios and test cases.
• Build a desirable quality assurance plan in cooperation with the various stakeholders/teams in order to deliver quality data to the end Customer conforming to the Quality Requirements and Criteria.
• Refine User Stories related to Defect Fixing Cycles based on the Requirements. This includes administering the User Stories with tasks and clear definition of Done in SNOW (Service Now – a tool used for registration of Features, Epics, User Stories, etc).
• Tracking activities and milestones related to the end-2-end Testing for Business initiatives in Service Now and other documents such as milestone Planning and Tracking Sheets or status updates.
• Supporting status reporting for each Business Initiative at regular intervals.
• Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.
You will help build and optimize Quality Assurance dashboards, support IT improvements, create training documentation and provide timely Reporting on Metrics related to Defects/Issues.
You also document and communicate appropriately to your peers on Plans you build to enable knowledge sharing.
Key Characteristics
• Experience in defining and delivering Quality Assurance and Test Management Plans based on requirements, business processes and constraints across an enterprise, ideally in Financial Services
• Sound understanding of how typical financial services functions and processes influence data processing methods, data quality, data issues management and remediation
• Consulting mindset including an ability to think about data processing in a way that is abstracted from how technology is implemented
• Design thinking that shows the connection between data extraction, transformation, analysis, enrichment, quality and business benefit and value by implementing the appropriate quality criteria and thresholds..
• Being an agent for change to agitate and initiate action and challenge others via business designs and solutions
• Results oriented with an ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems
• Knowledge of Test Automation Solutions, trends and processes

Profile Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years of Proven working experience as a Quality Assurance Specialist, Test Specialist and Tester in a complex IT environment
• Technical expertise regarding ETLs, data models and data processing is an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of and experience with Test Automation Tools, Requirements/Defect Management Tools, etc (HP-ALM, etc).
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Adept at report writing and presenting findings.
• Must have strong interpersonal skills and be self-directed.
• Must be able to work independently and according to the priorities set by the team.
• Will create training materials, templates, etc. based on trends within current implementations to enable simplification and improvisation in future implementations.
• Experience with Scrum and Continuous delivery is preferred.
