For our client in Amsterdam we are looking for a cutting edge UX/UI designer and engineer, embracing new technologies to drive innovative solutions. They will be able to engage with business stakeholders and create a real vision about UX/UI and user interaction.

Every day a new challenge could surface requiring critical thinking. Taking tactical decisions, as well as defining tangible output providing the foundations for a longer term vision will be part of the responsibilities. The innovation topics and UX/UI to create will likely be about Big Data, Future State Platforms & Technologies, Blockchain, Machine Learning and Artificial intelligence concepts and ways of thinking. As such, a passion, interest or even experience in these fields is required.

Key accountabilities and role outputs:
- Work closely with Business Units and Product Owners as well as clients helping them realise their product vision:
- Understand product specifications and user psychology
- Service design thinking ensuring it meet the user's and customer's needs for that service
- Run ideation workshops, create user journey maps and service blueprints to get a shared understanding
- Translate output into user stories forming requirements
- Conduct, or oversee, user research work - including user interviews, usability tests, surveys, research reports and personas.
- Do, or oversee, sketching, wireframing, prototyping by following UX best practices.
- Define the right interaction model and evaluate its success
- Advice on and explain the new UX trends and market changes
- Create visually appealing UI using Adobe tools or Sketch; if possible, write HTML & CSS code
- Designing information architectures, user interfaces (UI), page templates and functionality that meets user and business needs and are simple and a delight to use. Work closely with, and support, the digital content and
UX manager on content strategy, content design and wider UX strategy
- Develop user stories and use them effectively as a key tool in UI and functional design
- Keep up to date with the latest UX practices and contribute to the company's blog

Skills, knowledge and experience:
- Agile thinking and planning
- A qualification in a relevant field, such as human-computer interaction, or equivalent professional experience in a UX-focused role
- Excellent knowledge and practical experience of user-centred design
- Excellent knowledge of modern UI design patterns, including responsive design and 'mobile first' strategies
- Good awareness of the capabilities and potential of modern web languages and tools, such as HTML5, CSS3 and jQuery, AngularJS
- Awareness of UX automated testing tools
- Good understanding of the principles of web accessibility
- An understanding and awareness of Big Data, Future State Platforms, Blockchain, Machine Learning and Artificial intelligence concepts and boundaries
- Significant, hands-on experience of conducting primary user research, including telephone and face-to-face interviews, generative research, user testing and facilitating the use of online tools
- Excellent research, analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent written and spoken english and/or Dutch
- Ability to present ideas succinctly and clearly and to communicate with and influence staff at all levels.
- Ability to learn quickly and to respond positively to a rapidly changing work area
- Advantage would be an understanding of other web, programming technologies (ngnix, Django, Python, Weblogic, Oracle Jet)

Travel expectations:
- Occasional travel to Amsterdam or Wales (depending on where role is filled) will be required
